"Having gone through a recent organisational refresh and alignment, the newly formed Data Tribe supports the ongoing evolution and implementation of our Data Strategy and brings together several key data, product and delivery hub functions, which includes; Data Assurance, Data Architecture, Data Delivery & IT Integration, Data Science & Analytics and Management Information that supports operational reporting, Insights & Business Intelligence our EUI Business.
The Data Assurance hub includes; Data Governance, Data Management, Data Minimisation, Data Confidentiality Assurance, Data Quality Management, Retention & Deletion and Information Risk as core components and service areas.
The Data Assurance Enablement Team is responsible for supporting our business stakeholders in managing the risks and issues around enterprise data. Working with Data Champions from around the business and alongside the Data Assurance team, the team will focus on setting and embedding the policies, standards, and governance and control frameworks that bring transparency and trust to our data. Critically, the Data Assurance Enablement team will bring the importance of effective data assurance and governance to life for all colleagues through close support, storytelling and by adopting a practical, pragmatic approach in line with business needs.
The Data Assurance Business Partner supports both the Head of Data Assurance and Data Assurance Specialists through a range of managing, coaching, and prioritising the delivery of the team’s work in order to provide the business with their data assurance needs. You will create an environment of collaboration, agility, innovation and ownership in support of the wider Data Assurance team and overall business ambitions. You will build enduring relationships with key business domain stakeholders and guide and support them with all data assurance requirements. You will drive data enablement and increase data literacy across the business, seeking to reduce data risk where possible.
Main Duties
- Be responsible for implementing the Data Assurance Strategy that supports and enables the achievement of overall business ambitions and outcomes
- Support the Data Assurance Operations Manager and Head of Data Assurance in defining and evolving the Data Assurance Framework (Data Quality, Metadata, Master Data, Policy & Controls)
- Embed a culture and methods of data assurance by design into processes, working practices and behaviours, bringing transparency and auditability to all data processes
- Through effective engagement and partnering with colleagues across the business, embed a culture of safe, responsible and ethical use of data, whilst maintaining appropriate freedom to innovate and experiment
- Develop, maintain and monitor a road map of data assurance enhancements and domain level maturity assessments, in line with business appetite
- Lead the Data Assurance Forum and have oversight of the effective function of all working groups in the Data Assurance Framework, ensuring topics of strategic and operational importance are identified and addressed
- Help define the Data Assurance technology requirements and in conjunction with Data Architecture and Data Assurance Operations Manager
- Provide support and guidance to the wider Data Assurance Team and support colleagues across the wider business who engage in data assurance activities
- Work closely with Data Assurance Risk specialists to flag, track and monitor identified data risks within business domains
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and appropriate autonomy within the Data Assurance team and wider data teams
- Design and development of KPI and reporting dashboards for various business domain stakeholders, Data Governance working groups and Councils
- Champion and promote a data centric, data driven culture across all domains.
- Support business requirements with the roll-out of metadata management ‘self service’ to drive data enablement.
Behavioural Competencies & Experience
- Have in-depth experience of developing data assurance & governance strategies and road maps, with an evidenced background of having overseen effective adoption into business processes
- Strong understanding of all aspects of data assurance and governance, including data quality management, metadata management and tools, data architecture and technology
- Experience in defining, designing, and implementing policies, standards, guidelines, tools, metrics and standards for data management and governance frameworks
- Leadership experience in creating and leading high-performance teams in both a line and matrixed environment
- Strong experience of delivering tangible business value through data assurance and governance solutions
- Good business acumen, with a good understanding of business concepts, practices, and business domain language to engage in problem solving sessions and discuss business issues in stakeholder language
- Experience of leading cultural change in the way data is used and governed in businesses
- Experience of driving data literacy and improving data culture within an organisation
Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent leadership and motivational skills
- Pragmatic and practical, with ability to tailor principles and standards to appropriate situations and audiences
- Excellent communication, for example conveying information to diverse audiences in a way that is easily understood and actionable
- Creative thinking, for example framing new ways of thinking about data assurance to drive adoption
- Influencing, for example fostering group problem solving and solution creation with business and technical team members
- Excellent relationship management, for example creating relationships and quickly building trust with internal and external stakeholders
- Storytelling, for example by creating a consistent storyline for better understanding and engagement with data assurance topics
- Qualification such as CDMP Practitioner or above highly desirable

We are open to discussion around remote working possibilities (UK only). Our whole business is working in a hybrid mode (1 day at the office per week) but we do offer flexibility depending on your location. Please do not hesitate in querying this with the Recruitment Officer if needed.
