About the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Associate to join the team at Admiral Money.
This role comes at a fantastic time for an established yet growing part of the business. Our staff put the customer first, and we encourage your suggestions on how we can continue to exceed their expectations while providing a market leading service.
About Admiral Money
Admiral Money is an exciting, new division of Admiral Group. We have the freedom and innovation of a small start up with the security of a large parent company, Admiral.
The journey started when we launched unsecured personal loans in June 2017. We went on to be the first direct to consumer car finance provider in December 2017. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength and have some exciting plans for the future.
We’re looking for people who are keen to learn, excited about getting stuck in and are ready for a challenge to help us to achieve our aim of creating a special lending business for our customers.
The Role
The Data Management Programme is responsible for creating, promoting, and managing a data framework that ensures data is accurate, timely, compliant, and secure. This involves establishing and embedding an organisation-wide operating model, supporting processes and artefacts that are easy to follow, and collaborating with compliance and risk teams to ensure the framework is compliant and secure by design. The team also works closely with data providers and consumers to ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly understood.
The Data Associate will support the organisation’s data management efforts by working closely with the Data Manager to oversee data management processes. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting data management initiatives, strong attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. This role suits someone who is curious, methodical, and enjoys solving problems. They value technology and efficient workflows as enablers of safe environments and are passionate about fostering a culture that recognises the value of data.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues across the business to understand challenges related to data usage and translate these into improvements to the data model or platform. This includes working closely with the Group Data Protection team.
- Support business-as-usual (BAU) activities such as maintaining documentation, including the Register of Processing Activities (ROPA), Key Risk Indicators, and other relevant updates.
- Assist in selecting, designing, and implementing tools and processes for end-to-end data management, such as metadata and critical data processes.
- Design, embed, and monitor data management processes across the organisation to support a truly data-centric culture. This includes defining clear roles and responsibilities and engaging Data Stewards and Owners.
- Ensure data used by the team aligns with the Dimensions of Data Quality, enabling confident decision-making. Monitor and resolve data quality issues.
- Support the governance framework to ensure data is compliant (e.g. GDPR, Data Protection), secure, accurate, and agile by design. Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring data protection laws and internal policies are applied
- Maintaining records to demonstrate data protection compliance
- Supporting privacy impact assessments and ROPA updates
- Assisting with data incident response and breach notification procedures
- Collaborating with relevant teams to apply data management principles, such as during new data asset ingestion
- Coordinating Data Owners and the Data Steering Group, including maintaining action logs and meeting minutes
Essential Skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions
- Experience engaging a wide range of business stakeholders
- Technical skills to create processes and documentation, ideally using Confluence and Jira
- Ability to develop frameworks that support continuous improvement
- Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills
