A vacancy has arisen within Admiral Money for a Business Intelligence Team Lead to join the fast growing team!

About Admiral Money

Admiral Money is an exciting, new division of Admiral Group. We have the freedom and innovation of a small start up with the security of a large parent company, Admiral. 

The journey started when we launched unsecured personal loans in June 2017. We went on to be the first direct to consumer car finance provider in December 2017. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength and have some exciting plans for the future.

We’re looking for people who are keen to learn, excited about getting stuck in and are ready for a challenge to help us to achieve our aim of creating a special lending business for our customers.

The Role

This role is a subset of the wider data capability being delivered by Admiral Money, focused on the timely delivery of reporting and insights enabling our commercial, product, and lending teams to make business decisions. Working across Microsoft PowerBI, Excel, and Amazon Redshift, the BI Team Lead co-ordinated the work of the BI Engineers and delivers coaching, guidance, and quality assurance to ensure that the team delivers insight which materially benefits the wider business teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Microsoft PowerBI product within Admiral Money, managing data models and ensuring the data quality of all reporting
  • Manage the access to data in consultation with the Data Manager, ensuring the protection of our customers’ data within reporting and BI workflows.
  • Co-ordinate and line manage a team of BI engineers, ensuring their output conforms to key visualisation best practices and is clearly documented and maintained.
  • Assist the Data Product team in the identification and curation of new datasets to support new business BI requirements. Quality test and validate curated datasets to ensure compliance and support the maintenance of the data dictionary and associated assets.
  • Monitor the business usage of reporting and insight and identify opportunities to improve the user experience and capabilities within the BI platform.

Requirements

  • Ability to build reports and dashboards in Microsoft PowerBI, including designing and managing report specific data models to serve customer through multiple applications
  • Solid SQL knowledge (PostgreSQL or Amazon Redshift ideal) and an ability to drive query performance and efficiency
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into clear and concise reports which enable business decisions
  • Experience in a BI/MI /reporting function
  • Experience in Agile delivery methodologies, particularly SCRUM or Kanban

  • Strong working knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts
  • Existing line management experience

Hybird Working: The successful candidate will be required to work on site in Cardiff 2 days per month.
