Application Domain Architect

The Domain Architects within the Enterprise Architecture function take primary responsibility for the development of the current state architectures, enterprise roadmaps, and target state architectures to feed into and inform the IT Strategy. The Domain Architects will also take responsibility for setting out the standards, principles, and building blocks for use by the Solutions Architects; and taking part in the governance forums to ensure the ongoing conformity to the enterprise roadmaps.

The Application Domain Architect will own and provide a holistic forward-looking view of Admirals core insurance systems, working with the others to ensure enterprise architecture and IT strategy alignment.
 

Location: we are considering remote working with a few days per month at the office.

Requirements / Technologies

• Extensive Insurance technology ecosystem experience
• Integration technologies experience e.g. Services, APIs, Orchestrations, Process Automations
• You will work with many technologies across all aspects of IT, but some core tech is listed below:
  • Policy, Billing, Claims, and Decision systems e.g. Guidewire, Ratabase, InsureTech
  • Java, Spring, Angular
  • Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub, SonarQube
  • Oracle, DB2, Elastic, Redis
  • Google Cloud Platform & Microsoft Azure
• You will use standard architecture techniques to tackle complex and exciting challenges
• You will be expected to stay current in the technology domain through research / PoCs
• You will champion and oversee the design and implementation of best practices
• You will identify and promote innovative ways of using technology to maximise system benefit
   

Responsibilities

• To act as a lead in the development of the strategic application architecture and define system evolution plans
• To work in tandem with the business to gather and understand the key business strategies that are both in place and emerging, to ensure the target architecture and technical roadmap are effectively aligned to the business’s current and future needs
• Producing documentation of a high-quality, ensuring all Decision Points, Building Blocks, Design Principles, Design Rationale, Enterprise Roadmaps, and all interdependencies are understood, documented, and communicated across IT, where appropriate
• Acting as a point of reference within the team to provide knowledge and technical expertise, alongside the solutions architects
• Provide consultancy services to internal customers by offering strategic guidance, and ensuring architecture principles, and design standards are met.
• Maintain strong links to our International operations, and other federated technology teams
• Contribute to the architecture repository using the accepted architecture standard modelling tools and language​
