Becca has worked in insurance for over 15 years, but since joining Admiral’s Pet Claims business in Peterborough, she said she’s never been more content. Becca shares her journey so far, her aspirations for the future and her top tips on how to apply for roles at Admiral.
Tell us about joining Admiral’s Pet Claims Business
“I joined Admiral in September 2024. It was a daunting move at first. Although I’ve worked in insurance for most of my adult life, moving to a new company after 15 years felt scary, I guess it was the fear of the unknown!
“Since moving to Admiral, I’ve had the opportunity to join a department that I’ve found a passion for, having previously worked across multiple insurance products. Being an animal lover with a deep understanding of insurance, stepping into a Team Manager role at Admiral’s Pet Centre of Excellence in Peterborough felt like the perfect fit, and I have never been this happy in my working life.”
What makes working as a team manager at admiral so rewarding?
“I love my role as a Team Manager. I started my career as an assessor, liaising with customers directly in their hour of need so I’m able to share my knowledge and experience with my team. It is very rewarding to watch them flourish as they provide the best customer service.”
What are your career aspirations for the next 12 months?
“I am thoroughly enjoying my role right now and I’m very content, but I do have other interests which I’m keen to explore. I love tech and policy change really interests me too.
I’ve just signed up to 1-2-1 coaching to support confidence building. Before I joined Admiral, I really struggled with my confidence. I never felt brave enough to speak up in meetings, I’d rather stay quiet. Now, I don’t hesitate to share my insight whilst feeling confident in my contribution, I actually enjoy speaking up! I’ve even volunteered for side of desk initiatives such as organising colleague parties, setting up Teams channels for collaboration and working closely with the Talent Acquisition team to recruit new members to our team.
None of this would have been possible without Admiral’s nurturing culture as you’re always encouraged to Grow & Progress, whatever that might look like for you. I’m excited to see what’s next for me and my career at Admiral.”
What do you love about Admiral?
“The kind, welcoming and supportive culture at Admiral is something I’ve never experienced before within the workplace. There’s no hierarchical feel no matter what your job title may be, and management is incredibly approachable.”
What does the perfect team member look like?
"No one is perfect, and at Admiral there’s no expectation to be either. If you have willing to learn and strive to be better, Admiral is a place Where You Can succeed. Our goal is to provide outstanding customer service and it’s a skill that can be learned.
When friends ask me about roles at Admiral and how to approach the application and interview process, I tell them to just be themselves. It was the best piece of advice I was given by my manager when I first joined, and Admiral truly is a company that encourage you to Be You.”
