This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-skilled Agile team as a Senior Automation Test Engineer for an award-winning workplace! You will have the opportunity to work as part of a customer-centric engineering team where you will use your testing expertise to deliver projects to a high quality. The role has a heavy emphasis on coding, providing technical leadership and will require programming experience in Typescript / JavaScript. 

We are a progressive team working with advanced technologies such as Playwright, Percy, BrowserStack and best in class tools such as Visual Studio Code, GitHub, Jira and Confluence. As part of your role you will be actively encouraged to contribute to all aspects of testing, creating and maintaining automated end to end test scripts, developing and maintaining a framework and expanding automation test coverage whilst adhering to strict quality standards. As our business diversifies, you will be expected to work on and support new functionality as it is developed. 

Main Duties:

  • Ability to analyse software requirements to write and execute comprehensive, thorough and effective regression packs to verify the quality of new or enhanced software releases. 
  • Being able to work effectively within the Scaled Agile methodology and participate fully in sprint ceremonies, communicating back to team on sprint progress, blockers etc. 
  • Assess feature suitability for test automation using test pyramid principles (incl. Acceptance tests, E2E regression tests, Cross browser tests, Visual Tests and API tests). 
  • Contribute to the automation test packs and ensure relevant processes are in place to ensure automated tests are maintained across projects. 
  • On-going development and maintenance of automation framework; adhering to strict coding standards set within the team and hold other junior engineers accountable.  
  • Ability to record, report, analyse and manage defects found and manage through to closure.  
  • Identifying and implementing suitable detailed test activities for each sprint set of epics/stories in accordance to best practice standards and processes as advised. 
  • Support and mentoring for other members of the team  
  • Support or lead the deployment of changes into the production environment and aid in the investigation of live issues or incidents 
  • Support the organization shift towards continuous testing delivery (incl. implementing automated test frameworks). 

Experience:

  • Experience of testing complex IT projects through to completion, resulting in delivery of robust and high-quality applications using best practices is essential. Strong capabilities and proven experience of building and maintaining automation testing frameworks 
  • Proven software testing experience including functional, regression and exploratory testing of web applications and services. 
  • Understanding of Cloud technologies e.g. Azure, Google Cloud 
  • Excellent understanding and experience of Web and API testing technologies and frameworks such as Playwright/Percy/BrowserStack and programming languages such as JavaScript / Typescript.  
  • Experience in carrying out the correct type of testing at the right level whilst adhering to the Practical Test Pyramid 
  • Experience with API tools such as Rest Assured, Postman, SoapUI or similar 
  • Experience with API test automation. 
  • Experience in following the Agile Scrum, Kanban & BDD process 
  • Experience of working effectively within the Scaled Agile environment and participate fully in Agile ceremonies, communicating back to team on progress, blockers etc.  
  • Experience providing coaching and transferring knowledge to other members of the team. 
  • Experience of build pipelines using common CI/CD and SCM tools (e.g.- GIT, Jenkins, Cloud). 
  • Experience in building and managing stakeholders relationships  
  • Experience in using tracking tools such as Jira 
  • Experience in handling sprint automation backlog and estimations.  
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills (both technical and non-technical) 

Desirable Technical skills:

  • Demonstrate test framework implementations on more than one tech stack. 
  • Proven knowledge and application of SQL  
  • Understanding of the different types of Automation Frameworks e.g. Data Driven, Keyword, Process etc. 
  • Understanding of web frameworks such as Angular 
  • Understanding of Node.js and NPM 
  • Experience in using Cucumber (Gherkin)  
  • Experience with App and Cross Browser Testing tool such as Browserstack. 
  • Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes 
  • Experience with JSON / XML and executing server requests 
  • Experience with Load Test tools such as Gatling or jMeter 
  •  

Qualifications (preferable but not mandatory):

  • HND in Computer Science / or proven experience within IT 
  • ISTQB Certified Tester 
  • ISTQB Test Automation Engineer

For this position there will be a two stage process. 1st stage will be a Codility test, 2nd stage will be a Technical interview via Microsoft Teams, dates and times to be confirmed.
