"Admiral Financial Services (AFSL) is an exciting, new divison of Admiral Group based in the the centre of Cardiff. We have the freedom and innovation of a small start up with the security of a large parent company, Admiral.
The journey started when we launched unsecured personal loans in June 2017. We went on to be the first direct to consumer car finance provider in December 2017. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength and have some really exciting plans for the future!

The Role
You will join a talented, modern Devops team working on the latest technologies and platforms: AWS, Terraform, GitLab, Kubernetes and constantly exploring more.
You will be working in a growing environment that prioritizes automation, CI/CD and the latest technology to support the development teams.
Together with your colleagues you will own the maintenance, deployment, improvement and troubleshooting of all the systems that compose the AFSL infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Be an inspiring leader for the AFSL DevOps team, creating the vision and roadmap to build a high performing team
- Support the development of people to reach their potential and achieve their ambition
- Work with the team to support design, build, test, deployment and integrity of new products and features
- Participate in code reviews, retros and demos
- Ensuring the performance, availability, security and continuity of infrastructure across all AFSL environments 24x7x365.
- Focus on proactive monitoring and catching issues early
- Learn about new technologies and related tools to introduce to the company in order to grow the agile development environment
- Work with AFSL and other 3rd party developers to make sure new environments meet requirements and conform to best practices.
- Research and architect solutions to solve security and compliance requirements
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Source code control (GitHub or GitLab)
- Automated build and deployments using Jenkins / GitLab CI
- Containers and Kubernetes
- Cloud services and automation tools Ansible, Terraform
- Solid scripting skills in one or more of: Python, Bash, PHP
- Good networking (TCP/IP, VPNs, Firewalls, DNS)
- Securing and hardening SaaS, Linux, AWS
- Familiarity with databases and proficiency in MySQL/AWS Redshift
- Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
- Excellent remote collaboration skills, rapid multi-channel text, voice and video communication and multitasking
Requirements
- Expertise in a broad range of AWS resources and product sets
- Knowledge of security best practice within AWS
- Experience of container orchestration framework administration and deployment
- Infrastructure as Code, primarily Terraform, in a production environment
- Experience with Agile, scrum & cross-functional teams
- Broad understanding of Financial Services sector
- Ability to communicate succinctly across multiple stakeholders
Desirable
- Existing professional cloud certification
- Expertise in monitoring and alerting services and platforms
- Linux system administration
- Specific experience in certain AWS areas including Connect, Workspaces and data platforms
