You do not need experience in design, product or development roles – we want someone who is organised, loves to problem solve and isn’t afraid to be at the heart of conversations to ensure every detail is captured. We want someone to make this role their own, bringing their experience in workload management and applying to our systems’ delivery.
The Design System Project Manager (or DesignOps role) aims to optimise how things are delivered, capture stakeholder requirements to un-block workloads and ensure the teams array of experts is working on the jobs that will bring most valuable to the team.
Working in weekly and bi-weekly sprints, the role will be expected to tack jobs, communicate releases and ensure everyone knows what they are working and why each week.
With these roles unique position within a multi-disciplined team, if you have worked in an administrative role, project planning, product or as a PA, you will have the perfect experience required.
What this role is about - key themes:
Within the design system team we manage a number of workflows, from design to development. The DesignOps role will be in the heart of co-ordinating these workflows, managing each team’s workload and scheduling out resource across the team to ensure the team runs effectively.
The role will be the main point of contact between the design system team and the wider business, gathering requirements, validating issues and making sure they are on hand to support, prioritise and deliver requested work.
Some of the main responsibilies of the DesignOps role is; removing blockers, ensuring progress can be made by team members by removing issues outside of their control, dealing with any organisational impediments, protecting the squad from unnecessary distraction and running both design and development sprints.
Your day to day responsibilities will be:
- Working with squads to understand pain points, understand system bugs and refine requirements needed by the design system team.
- Scheduling workloads of the team to ensure stakeholder deadlines are met.
- Writing tickets for designers to deliver required work.
- Writing tickets for developers to deliver required work.
- Planning and prioritising sprint workloads. (Weekly)
- Writing release notes and communication works complementation to stakeholders.
- Writing documentation to support components and the systems ways of working.
- Looking at automation, and optimising design and development delivery.
- Monthly reporting on the state of the system and the effectiveness of its delivery.
Requirements (essential skills):
- Experience in project planning, scheduling workloads and project delivery.
- Great problem solver and keen eye for detail to ensure the team doesn’t hit any blockers.
- Experience in report writing and data presentation.
- Great time-management and ability to manage other people’s time effectively.
- Strong in written and verbal communication and able to document and share progress and activities effectively.
- Identifying, tracking, removing and escalating both blockers and impediments within th team to maintain both pace and flow of value.
- Strong listener who is confident in building trust with others and enable the communication loop necessary to understand any challenges and feedback.
- Proactive and able to take problem-solving initiative.
- Knowledge of design systems and their needs, and passionate about user advocacy
- Good knowledge of UX and UI practices, and passionate about user advocacy
- Comfortable moving between detail-oriented and big-picture thinking
- Able to drive collaboration among teams and stakeholders
- Able to present findings, process and other key workflows to teams.
- Able to write documentation, both technical and theoretical, to help support design teams to communicate to stakeholders.

Salary, Benefits, and Work-Life Balance
