Data Ethics is an absorbing new area helping Admiral ensure that we are treating our customers data with respect and ensuring our models and processes are as free as possible from bias. The role will sit in our Group Data Protection and Privacy function and involves working with Data Scientists across the whole organisation. It involves thinking about the potential biases in our models and processes and guiding the business to better solutions. These considerations will rarely be simple and will involve careful thought and balance.
We appreciate this is a new area and therefore, the person, their attitude and their determination is as important to us as their experience
Main Duties
- Reviewing data science models and processes and detecting potential bias
- Providing practical advice on how to improve processes and models
- Working with data governance colleagues across the business to provide support and guidance
Essential Skills
- Able to think through the factors that may bias a predictive model or process
- Comfortable communicating with data scientists, stakeholders, and data protection professionals
- Passionate about data ethics
- Numerical skill – may suit a graduate in a mathematical discipline
- Confident acting as a subject matter expert
- Strong presentation skill and able to be an evangelist for data ethics
- Possession of strong team working and leadership skills
Desirable Skills
- Experience with data science and artificial intelligence.
- Understands best practices when building predictive models and segmentations
- Technical knowledge of data privacy and data governance practices
- Strong report writing skills
- Experience in designing processes
- Passionate about continued learning and personal development

Location / Working Arrangements
For this role you will be required to spend at least 40% of your time in our Cardiff office (2 days a week). We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home.

Tell us about you and your Admiral story?
I joined Admiral in October 2020 as a Renewals Consultant. I dealt directly with Renewals queries and then moved into the Customer Value team, dealing with mid-term customers and upselling Multi Product. During my time in the Contact Centres, I helped with Volume Recruitment from time to time, and this prompted me to pursue a full-time role in recruitment, which I started in March 2022.
