Business Intelligence Analyst

The journey started when we launched unsecured personal loans in June 2017. We went on to be the first direct to consumer car finance provider in December 2017. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength and have some exciting plans for the future.

About the role

This role is a subset of the wider data capability being delivered by Admiral Money, focused on the timely delivery of reporting and insights enabling our commercial, product, and lending teams to make business decisions. Working across Microsoft PowerBI, Excel, and Amazon Redshift, the BI Engineering team draws the data from our central data platform, shapes and visualises it to drive impact, and engages the teams to drive their data literacy and capability.

Responsibilities 

• Evaluate BI requirements from across the organisation and design reports and dashboards to meet these requirements
• Drive insight quality through rigorous QA of delivered data and insights, and investigate and manage data quality gaps where they occur; review collection practices and assist in documentation of the data dictionary and supporting artefacts
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to understand their data needs and design appropriate solutions, from ad-hoc data queries through to automated and scheduled delivery of complex dashboards
• Working closely with analytics team to support on the productionisation of analytical outputs to regular reporting and BI
• Train and develop business users to enable effective use of BI reports and increase understanding and capability across the data platform. Assist analyst community in understanding the underlying data and act as SME for key business datasets
• Identify trends in business metrics and areas for commercial performance improvements, and engage business teams to achieve these
• Support business team across a variety of technical languages and BI software applications, including SQL, PowerBI and Microsoft Excel

Requirements

Essential

• Ability to build reports and dashboards in Microsoft PowerBI, including designing and managing report specific data models to serve customer through multiple applications
• Solid SQL knowledge (PostgreSQL or Amazon Redshift ideal) and an ability to drive query performance and efficiency
• Ability to translate customer requirements into clear and concise reports which enable business decisions

Desirable

• Experience of working in a BI/MI /reporting function
• Strong working knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts
• Experience in Agile delivery methodologies, particularly SCRUM or Kanban
