Hi, I’m Cheya, a Company Secretarial Assistant, and I’ve just run the London Marathon for Tenovus Cancer Care!
It’s a Wales-based charity supporting people affected by cancer, and crossing the finish line knowing we’d raised money for them was an amazing feeling.
I ran my first marathon last year in Manchester and swore “never again”… but when I was offered a place to fundraise for Tenovus, I couldn’t say no. The London Marathon is iconic, and doing it for a charity close to home made the whole weekend even more special.
Biggest lesson: the training is brutal, but keeping the charity in mind and that race finish feeling was a huge reward! My body is still catching up, but it was definitely worth it.
And I wasn’t alone. My colleague Kate ran too!
Hi, I’m Kate, Internal Communications Lead. I’ve just run for Welsh Women’s Aid, which works to end domestic abuse and violence against women.
I’ve been genuinely touched by the support - and by seeing Match Funding boost what we raised.
Running was my way of supporting change in a small but meaningful way. It was my first marathon, and finishing it showed me how much resilience you can build by taking things one step (and one mile) at a time.
I grew up in London and remember watching my parents run when I was little, so it’s always felt like the one to do. I even chose it to mark turning 26 (26.2 miles felt fitting!), and being out there this weekend was every bit as inspiring as I imagined.
We ran for different causes, but the feeling is the same: when colleagues and communities get behind you, and Match Fund doubles what you raise, the impact is huge.
