Hi, I’m Eve, DE&I Project Lead at Admiral, and I’ve recently used our floating holidays benefit to visit my family who live afar.
Let me tell you how it all works.
One of our commitments to our people at Admiral is to be a place Where You Can Be You, and flexibility is a big part of this. As a rule, we’re all given UK bank holidays off, but for some of us, it’s not super important to take them where they traditionally fall.
Our floating holidays benefit means that if a bank holiday isn’t a business-close-day, you can choose to work it and take that time back as annual leave elsewhere in the year.
For me, this is invaluable.
With my support network spread out, planning family visits around fixed dates can be tricky, but the flexibility to choose when I take time off means I can extend trips to see loved ones who live far away, make the most of my annual leave, and fit work around my life instead of the other way round.
This freedom supports my wellbeing and takes the stress out of balancing work and family commitments.
And more broadly, it’s another way we create a workplace where different lives, backgrounds and priorities are recognised, so people can feel comfortable and supported to be themselves.
Which bank holidays can be swapped under the floating holidays benefit?
Good Friday
Easter Monday
Early May Bank Holiday
Spring Bank Holiday
Summer Bank Holiday
It’s a simple benefit but one that really makes a difference.
