When Chloe Gilbert joined Admiral’s MBA Future Leaders Programme, she brought with her a rich tapestry of global experience, a passion for purpose-driven work, and a fresh perspective on the insurance industry.

Originally from Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), Chloe has spent the past decade in London, though she proudly describes herself as a farm girl at heart. Deeply connected to her homeland, she balances her time between socialising with friends and exploring London’s vibrant food scene. Alongside this, Chloe serves as a trustee and board member of a charity committed to enhancing educational access and facilities for disadvantaged children in Eswatini.

Before joining Admiral, Chloe spent seven years in reinsurance, where her role in product strategy took her across the globe. Her academic thesis on economics and peace reflected an early ambition to make a meaningful impact, an aspiration that aligns seamlessly with Admiral’s values.

Joining Admiral’s MBA Future Leaders Programme

Chloe joined Admiral’s MBA Future Leaders Programme to broaden her expertise within the sector. As Group Strategy Manager, Chloe leads work that explores new avenues for the business, monitors market developments, and identifies new opportunities for innovation. “The nature of the team is to incubate talent,” Chloe explains. “You’re never the newest person for long, and the role requires you to learn a lot of information fast. But you’re trusted to own your work and quickly become a subject matter expert.”

Culture, Camaraderie, and CEO Access

One of the standout features of Admiral’s MBA Future Leaders Programme is the rare opportunity for 1-to-1 access to a FTSE 100 CEO. Chloe describes working closely with Milena as one of the best parts of her job: “Milena is very receptive to new ideas and ways of thinking, which is fantastic.”

The culture at Admiral has also left a lasting impression. “It’s super relaxed and welcoming, unlike anything I’d experienced before,” Chloe says. “You’re encouraged to express your interests and shape your role. The job really is what you make of it.”

Rethinking Insurance

While insurance may not seem glamorous at first glance, Chloe believes Admiral’s culture is what makes the industry so compelling. “Companies like Admiral work hard to create a supportive environment. You need to look past the misconceptions and recognise the role of insurance and its purpose. It’s a space where you’ll learn a lot.”

Chloe’s Top Tips for Future Leaders

“Don’t say what you think they want to hear, just be yourself,” Chloe advises. Reflecting on her own experience, she admits that being interviewed by the CEO was a daunting thought, but with the right preparation, “it’s hard to go wrong.”
