Pritpal Powar, Head of Pet, discusses our newly launched Pet Insurance product, and shares insight into what brought him to Admiral in the first place and why he loves it so much!
Hi Pritpal, how are you today?
Really good, nice to be a bit cooler after the heatwave!
Can you tell us about how long you’ve been at Admiral and what you do here?
I just passed my one-year anniversary at Admiral, it’s flown by and I’ve enjoyed every minute! I’m the Head of Pet and it’s my job to launch and grow a successful pet insurance business here at Admiral with the support of my team and many other great people across the business.
What has your career journey been like so far?
Before joining Admiral, I spent 17 years at Direct Line Group where I had a broad range of roles. I started off in Finance, then moved to Supply Chain, and then onto roles where I was responsible, in part or in full, for running businesses across a range of product lines, including Breakdown, Pet, Life and Home Insurance.
What attracted you to join Admiral?
I was really interested in the opportunity to build a team and launch a Pet business without any baggage from previous decisions and systems and having the freedom to start it from scratch. This was combined with the great team ethos and culture that’s already at Admiral as I really wanted to work in an enriching environment.
Can you tell us what we can expect from the launch of our new pet product?
Expect improved products, competitive pricing, cool new services, innovative new digital and phone journeys, and a team with a passion to make the business an overwhelming success.
What excites you the most about where Admiral is heading?
The drive and energy to be ahead of new and emerging trends is what excites me a lot. Combining the fundamentals of what has brought so much success to Admiral over many years with developments in existing and new products and customer expectations to deliver real value to customers and our business, is also something that I’m excited to see a continuation of.
What’s your favourite thing about working at Admiral?
The best thing about working here is the passion, support and fun I have every day and in every interaction with people across the business. Coming in externally, this is unique and without a doubt contributes massively to the wellbeing of colleagues and success of the business.
