Purpose of Role

The importance of Capacity Management is becoming more crucial to Admiral. Admiral IT must be able to provide measurable assurance to the business that we can both monitor and control IT resource usage, and optimise where necessary. Additionally, to have sufficient capacity to meet both current and future business demands cost-effectively. Expanding the Capacity Management function within Admiral will allow us to better manage our IT resources and increase visibility across the IT estate, as a result, it has highlighted a requirement for additional resource to further increase the team capabilities.

The IT Capacity Support Analyst role will provide day to day support for Capacity Management functions, including proactive daily monitoring of critical IT system components and escalating any exceptions with key technical teams to facilitate a timely resolution. The role would also take part in Capacity planning activities, including liaising with Change and IT transition teams to ensure Capacity management requirements are fulfilled before service go-live.

Key duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leading on Capacity Management BAU activities including data gathering, reporting, and follow-up actions on identified key CM improvements piece of work
  • Regularly reporting on critical systems resources capacities; drilling down to compute, storage, and network resources, ensuring that their capacities are improved to provide overall optimum service level
  • Responsible for day to day CM proactive activities including critical infrastructure daily checks using Capacity monitoring toolsets and monthly DR capacity reports for critical systems
  • Providing CM support for new projects and transition activities, ensuring all CM requirements are taking into consideration before transitioning to live service
  • Working with key technical areas to assess existing and projected systems and infrastructure demands
  • Responsible for updating auditable CM documentation, including maintaining risks and issues register on Jira and other CM documentation on Confluence
  • Assisting the incident and problem management processes for capacity-related issues by helping pinpoint possible areas where service resource constraints may exist
  • Facilitating resolution of any technical issues that could have an impact on IT resources
  • Facilitating Capacity review cycle meetings with relevant stakeholders and ensure the outcome of meetings is communicated accordingly
  • Responsible for organising and providing secretarial support for capacity-related meetings and training sessions

Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • ITIL qualified with experience in the large-scale implementation of IT systems and relevant processes and procedures (i.e. Change Management, Incident Management, and continual service improvement).
  • Good knowledge of physical and virtual server architecture, SAN storage, and enterprise network
  • Proven track record of work experience in a challenging commercial environment.
  • Good analytical mind with a keen eye for details and working knowledge of relevant functional systems.
  • Experience in dealing with and influencing multi-tier management.
  • Willing to develop and learn new technologies and put them into good use
  • Good understanding of translating business requirements into functional specifications for IT systems.
  • Accurate and detail-oriented research skills as well as an inquiring mindset.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment, strong personal initiative, and an ability to innovate.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to deal with business users at all levels.
  • Service-oriented, adaptable, and resilient.
  • Good team player, flexible, and able to deliver results with the minimum of supervision.
