"Head of Enterprise and Domain Architecture
Location: Cardiff or Remote
Reports to: Chief Architect
Salary: Competitive, based on experience, plus excellent Admiral benefits (including company shares and more)
Introduction
Admiral is fundamentally a digital business that will increasingly leverage modern technology to allow us to operate as a "Fintech at Scale". We are actively seeking a Head of Domain and Enterprise Architecture who will be key to defining a technology strategy that will:
- Enable the delivery of outstanding business capabilities and platforms
- Facilitate a customer centric, channel agnostic, engagement model
- Allow rapid deployment of differentiated products into new and existing markets
- Provide flexibility to rapidly respond to emerging market disruption
- Analyse customer data to react in real time and gain competitive advantage
Job Purpose & Main Duties
The successful candidate will:
- Manage the Enterprise and Domain Architecture teams
- Contribute to the technology thought leadership for Admiral
- Develop an IT strategy that aligns and evolves with our business strategy
- Develop technology strategies to address potential industry disrupters
- Develop and maintain 3-year detailed technology and platform roadmaps for all areas of the business
- Drive consistency, rationalisation and reuse in our technology estate to improve our expense ratio
- Maintain clear architectural governance processes and ensure they are fully adopted
- Influence and contribute to the scope of the change portfolio to ensure that it reflects and implements the IT strategy and roadmaps
- Work with strategic / architecturally significant vendors to help inform the direction of our IT strategy and influence their roadmaps for the benefit of Admiral’s future strategic direction
- Champion a service-based / event based architecture to enable reuse of capabilities to accelerate the change agenda
- Define our external API strategy to facilitate the potential for future "Admiral as a service" to support potential “Open Insurance” models
Experience and Qualifications Required
The Head of Enterprise and Domain Architecture will be an experienced architecture professional with extensive technical, strategic and management experience. The individual should have the appropriate level of experience and gravitas to interact at all levels of Admiral up to and including C level.
Essential skills
- Previous experience of leadership in IT Architecture in a similar sized organisation
- Strong technical grounding with extensive architectural experience
- Thorough and broad understanding technology from infrastructure to application
- Ability to make pragmatic business focussed decisions
- Experience of implementing architectural governance processes
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent analytical skills
- Ability to communicate constructively and confidently and work well with others
- Proven ability to self-start and motivate others to achieve goals
- Strong communication skills, both written and spoken, with an ability to explain complex technical issues to a non-technical audience
- Proven team leadership and collaboration skills
