Job Purpose

The role holder is responsible for supporting the Windows 10 end point devices which all users within the company use, to ensure they get the best quality experience based on leading edge technology and Microsoft Best Practice implementations. The focus of the team is ‘the end user experience’, driving improvements to ensure ease of use and secure accessibility of the devices they use, enabling them to perform within their own role as effectively as possible with minimal inconvenience whilst ensuring they also confirm to strict security requirements.

The Team ultimately understand the health of the EUC estate and work with the other WPS teams to prioritise and track pain points and trends, so that tactical and strategic fixes and remedies can be deployed.

 

Main Duties

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring EUC build remains current and appropriately maintained in line with Microsoft’s strategy, regarding feature improvements, updates and new releases.
  • Administration, management and maintenance of Ivanti Endpoint Management (Formally LANDesk Management Suite)
  • Workspace One management and administration.
  • Supporting the Service Desk, Software and Hardware Asset Management teams as required.
  • Ownership of Desktop OS Patching process, with focus on automation methods
  • Ownership of OS Driver Management and Updates
  • Ownership of BIOS images and ensuring Desktop and Laptop estate is updated.
  • Application packaging and version control of existing packages
  • Group Policy management and configuration specifically around EUC Clients and Users, ensuring a clean structure is maintained without bloat or clutter.
  • Maintenance of AppLocker and proactive and reactive monitoring of event logs.
  • Deploying Windows 10 to the business, onboarding new departments and ensuing testing and configuration of the above is done in conjunction with the rollout from testing, pilot to live.
  • Managing Thin Client estate devices and policies with Dell WYSE Management Suite
  • Managing and configuring VDI base Gold Image, and VDI estate with Citrix Delivery Controller

 

This is not a full definition of the role but covers the main aspects and drivers for success.

 

 

Prior Experience and Personal Attributes:

You should be able to demonstrate experience and expertise across as many of the following areas as possible

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience within an IT support or managed services function.
  • Experience with Windows imaging methods
  • Experience with application packaging and scripting methods
  • Highly technical with hands on experience with troubleshooting issues and resolving problems.
  • Experience with AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Roaming Profiles, File Shares, DFS, AppLocker etc.
  • Office 365 and Exchange On-premise – Administration and troubleshooting issues.
  • Experience with VDI or RDS: Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp or Horizon, RDS, Profile Management etc.
  • Operating systems: Windows Server 2008 R2 - 2016, Windows 10.
  • Experience with application packaging and patching solution (Ivanti, SCCM etc.)
  • Effective at documenting developments and creating and maintaining guides for training and audit purposes

 

Desirables:

Exposure to any of these technologies / activities is advantageous for the role.

  • M365 - Teams, SharePoint, Azure AD, Autopilot, Dynamics, PowerBI, OneDrive, Azure File Sync etc 
  • Security experience with Intune, AIP, ATP, DLP, MFA, EMS and/or CIS Benchmarking requirements.
  • Experience of working with a cloud provides like Azure, AWS, GCP and private cloud technologies.
  • IT certifications are highly desirable, examples: VCP-DCV, ITIL CCA-V, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, CompTIA
  • Experience of large-scale project rollouts approved through Change Advisory Boards
  • Experience with RES Workspace Manager
  • Scripting experience with Powershell to automate processes
  • Knowledge and experience with VMWare vCentre
