The DevOPS engineer role working within the Platform team is pivotal to the successful build, optimisation and monitoring of our development platforms. The DevOPS engineer will work collaboratively alongside infosec, architects, developers, infrastructure, data and product experts.
This collaborative team of domain experts will adopt processes, procedures & emerging technology, enabling Developer & Product teams’ continuous delivery of customer focused applications & products.
Responsible for:
- Support of configuration and operations release processes
- Research, development, creation and support of platform delivery pipelines
- Creating and maintaining technical processes and procedures
- Champion SecDevOPS culture, training and adoption sessions
Key compentencies:
- Displays ownership, proactivity, autonomy and self-reliance within the technical environment
- Demonstrates a can-do attitude and promotes this across the team
- Maintain technical skills and knowledge, keeping up to date with latest technology platforms and solutions
- Recognised as an expert in their technical field
- Query and challenge pre-existing ideals and the status quo, ignore the assumption that traditional approaches are optimal and suggest better alternatives
Technologies:
You will use the following technologies in this role and previous experience in these is essential:
- Experience administering Azure DevOPS (formerly VSTS)
- Experience of automation, deployment and monitoring tools
- Experience of Azure hosting services and application monitoring tools
Experience required in some of the following technologies:
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
- Automation of delivery platforms
- Knowledge of Azure platform and infrastructure
- Experience of Agile and Scrum methodologies
Education/Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineer or related experience highly desirable but not essential
- Certification in Azure DevOPS principles
Key attritubes:
Strong experience working in a complex business/technology service environment in a senior infrastructure role
- Experience of working in a cross-functional environment
- Career history showing progression in Configuration or Operations engineer role
- In depth knowledge of technology solutions, trends and techniques with a clear understanding of what future technology can mean for business
- Experience of supporting Azure Cloud hosted technologies and services
- Driven, confident, outgoing and self-managing with a real passion for achieving high service standards and an appetite for continuous change and development
- Clear, concise and logical communication style suitable for all levels of the organisation
- Strong planning, decision-making and organisation skills, with the ability to manage conflicting demands and judge complex situations through prioritisation and pragmatic approaches. Knows when to escalate and communicate issues
- Personable engineer attitude that inspires and coaches team members and the wider technology teams
