Data Product Owner

We are looking for a proactive team player with interest in the world of data to join our International Pricing Team as a Data Product Owner. 

About the Team

In the International Pricing Department, we are 25 members from more than 10 different nationalities. We provide strategic advice and support in the areas of Pricing, Analytics and Data to help our international insurance operations accelerate their profitable growth.

About the Role

Pricing has always been among Admiral’s key strengths, spearheading the adoption of new data sources and analytics techniques. Today, new big data and machine learning techniques augment our traditional pricing expertise, and create substantial value in other areas of our business. Data is essential for our work and it has become a key strategic asset for our group.

Currently, our team is helping design the 2025 data strategy for our international operations. In a few months, we will start working on several projects to implement this strategy. We are looking for a proactive and motivated team player to help us carry those projects out successfully.

In this position, you will be the owner of at least one of the key data products related to our data strategy. The scope of the products spans 4 countries and multiple business areas such as digital, pricing, claims or marketing. These products have high visibility from top management due to their strategic nature.

Future Career Progression

This role will give you the chance to learn about data, new technologies, core business processes in the financial services sector, and ways of working in different cultures. Once the data products are delivered to the business users, you will have established close working relationships across 5 countries. This will give you the opportunity to continue developing your career within International Pricing or many other teams at Admiral.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2:1 in a STEM subject
• Working proficiency in English.
• Interest in data and some experience leveraging data in any business area.

Desirable Skills and Attributes

• Working proficiency in French, and/or Spanish, and/or Italian preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders.
• Proactive and creative approach to taking initiative and getting things done.
• Personality and a sense of humour (we believe work should be fun!).

Please note, while this role is based in our head office in Cardiff, due to the impact of COVID-19, it's likely that you will initially be required to work from home, with your initial training taking place using online collaboration tools. However, going forward, we anticipate that this role will allow you to work partially remotely on a more permanent basis.
